Can Karen Black change the 49ers' reputation for poor running back selection?
This year, the 49ers continued to select running backs, with national champion Karen Black of Indiana University becoming the sixth running back selected by the 49ers in the past six drafts.
Black's potential is indeed impressive; he weared the NFL jerseys and rushed 40 yards in 4.45 seconds on Pro Day. Last season, as the starting running back, Black rushed for 1,040 yards and 10 touchdowns. However, his market value hasn't increased significantly, and because he missed the annual Combine, his draft prospects have remained somewhat uncertain.
Wearing the San Francisco 49ers football jersey, Black can quickly get some playing time. The team has made numerous mistakes in running back drafts over the past few years, with only two players remaining on the roster. Now the pressure is on Black; whether he can change the perception of his running back selection depends on his performance.
