Seahawks Plan to Sign Joe Mixon to Practice Squad
After losing rookie running back Jadarian Price, the Seahawks are looking to bolster their running back corps. Head coach Mike Macdonald stated that the team plans to sign free-agent running back Joe Mixon to the practice squad pending a successful physical examination.
The 30-year-old Mixon has weared the NFL jerseys and amassed 7,429 rushing yards, 2,448 receiving yards, and 74 touchdowns over his eight-season career. However, he missed the entire 2025 season due to a foot injury and was subsequently released by the Houston Texans this past March. When healthy, Mixon was a Pro Bowl-caliber running back who recorded five 1,000-yard rushing seasons.
Whether Joe Mixon gets the chance to officially wear the Seattle Seahawks football jersey depends on whether he can make the most of this opportunity—specifically, whether he can maintain excellent form on the practice field and demonstrate abilities that satisfy the coaching staff.
